Dracula Review
Among the amazing line up of fall theater shows, Mansfield has managed to produce a wonderful arrangement of Dracula!. The eerie storyof a count from Transylvania has made it to the MHS walls, with a talented cast line up, beautiful costumes, and wonderful set designs. The story is told with such enthusiasm that enthralls the watcher and entices them to want more from the two hour school play. The entire cast gave 110% through out the whole process and never (maybe sometimes) doubting their actions.
“Everyone in Dracula worked tremendously hard. We have an amazing, and hardworking cast and crew,” said stage manager Alexis Milam.
The hard work of the actors is evident in their smooth, elaborate performance and beautifully delivered lines that took a while to rehearse and prepare for.
“The audition process is to memorize a monologue then perform it, dressed in your Sunday best in front of the theater directors,” said junior Caitlyn Crackle, who played Flora.
Theatre Directors look for specific factors when deciding who’s able to take on a role in the play.
“Can a student handle the part? Do they have the basic acting/singing/dancing skills? Are they coachableā¦if we ask them to do something a certain way? Do they try to do it or do they simply continue doing it their way?” said director Mrs. Wright. “We need students who will listen, follow directions and help/guide others.”
Other than the stressful process of preparation there are a few things that the cast and crew still love about the whole process and preparation for Dracula.
“My favorite part of the play was getting to play an evil and creepy villain. It’s so different than any other character I’ve ever played so researching and studying Dracula was SO MUCH FUN,” said senior Zach Montou.
The play is a complete success and managed to pull in a full house on the second night. It truly showcased the numerous talents here at MHS.The last performance is to show Monday at 7pm, make sure to check it out!
