Homecoming Proposals
Homecoming has been the topic on everybody’s mind these past couple of weeks. Girls have been running around frantically trying to find a date and boys have been stressing out about how to ask the girls. However, some boys were able to get their proposals all planned out and asked their lovely ladies to homecoming.
Freshman Madee Hamilton was asked by her Lakeridge boyfriend, Jacob Meeks, in a sweet way.
“We were at his house and he told me he had a project for me to help him with and that was the reason why he asked me over, I was pissed. Then he pulled out the poster and before I could answer, he got a box full of candy and dumped it on the poster.” said Hamilton. “I love candy.”
Although, this next proposal didn’t involve candy, it was just as sweet. Sophomore Brianna Alvarado was asked to homecoming by Tony Ambriz in an exciting way.
“I was walking into Ms. Hill’s classroom and went to go get papers by the window,” said Alvarado. He was standing there with some friends of mine and each of them were holding a letter spelling homecoming and he was holding flowers,” said Alvarado. “It was perfect, I was totally taken by surprise. I didn’t really know how to react.”
One non-traditional way of asking a girl to homecoming was done by junior Collin Clark. Clark took the time to come up with this great idea to ask his senior girlfriend,Tanner Wilson, to this frequently talked about day. Collin was able to utilize both his and Tanner’s love for golf and make an adorable proposal out of it.
“What I did was I made a 16 piece puzzle and gave out pieces to kids on the golf team and people that worked at the country club,” said Clark. “As she got the pieces she put it together and I had the 16th piece which said ‘me?’ and some flowers.” “I wanted to find a cool way to make her find out so I decided to make a puzzle so she could find her way.”
Senior Nathan Fonseca asked his sweetheart, Muriel Urrejola, to homecoming by using one of her most enjoyable classes Ready,Set,Teach to his advantage.
“I asked Muriel by going to Erma Nash and having the teacher send Muriel out of the classroom to go ‘put up books.’ While she was doing that, Mrs. Heefner and I got the poster and had them stand in front of a board that had a picture of us. Mrs. Heefner played Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars and told the kids to say ‘Will you go to homecoming with Nathan?’ when she walks in. I stood behind the kids and had different colored roses in my hand waiting for her to walk in,” said Fonseca. “I planned it with my friend Anthony White and Mrs. Heefner from Erma Nash. I got my inspiration from Muriel because she talked about what she does at the elementary school everyday and I thought it might be cute for the kids to help me in asking her.”
These are just some of the ways people were asked to homecoming at Mansfield High, but there are a lot of other ways people have done it. Remember to always keep it happy, creative, and original.
