Remembering Halloween

Halloween has secured the spot as one of the scariest holidays, but that doesn’t mean all people’s memories are spooky. Some memories are frightening and some memories are sweet, so Halloween is the perfect holiday to satisfy your sweet tooth.  Another way to do so is to remember those sweet memories.

“One time I went trick-or-treating with my family and this one house had this crazy man on the lawn with a chainsaw and every time anyone tried getting past him he’d start it and scare everyone but no one actually got hurt. I just remember crying then because I thought he was actually going to kill me if I tried walking past him.” said freshman Heather Tran.

Some Halloween stories do have injuries, for example senior Jessica Galvan had an interesting night with her dad.

“When I was 7 or 8 I lived in Abilene because my dad lived there at the time, we had a Halloween party and he invited my stepmom’s family. He had made our house into a mini haunted house complete with strobe lights and a fog machine. When it was my turn to go through the “haunted house” with my step sister,my dad jumped out at us and he was wearing a devil mask and as pure reflex I pulled the mask and it snapped him and punched him in the face in the process. He ended up having a black eye,” said Galvan.

Some favorite Halloween memories are simple, but still meaningful, like junior Ella Grimes’.

“One of my favorite memories is going trick-or-treating with my family. It was fun that’s why I liked it.” said Grimes.

Halloween memories are filled with the happiness and innocence that only childhood can provide like sophomore Amanda Khazem’s magical night with her sister.

“When my sister was about 8 or 9 and I was 7, she dressed up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and I was Tinkerbell and she and I would make up facts about how we can fly and grant wishes where as our cousin couldn’t.” said Khazem.

Other Halloween memories, like junior Isabella Moya and her friends, were inspired by one of their favorite band’s extravagant costumes.

“Me and my three other friends dressed up like the band KISS. It was my favorite memory because we got a lot of compliments and we looked like the real members,” said Moya.

Although all these Halloween memories have given you a wonderful blast to the past, you should go out and make your own. Happy Halloween!
