Class of 2012 Donates Tiger Statue
Mansfield High School has a new addition in the front office. It is a tiger statue that the class of 2012 donated in honor of their fallen classmates, Rochelle Kitchens and Jaylen Roberts. Each graduating class has a bank account for the money they have fundraised from their freshmen year to their senior year. The money is mostly used for prom but after prom, the class can decide what they want to do with the money. Normally, the money is given to the next graduating class but sometimes the class adds something to the school to be remembered by. The class of 2012 decided to use their leftover money to gift the tiger to the school so they and their departed classmates will be remembered.
“It is a great attribute to the school and should be displayed proudly,” calculus teacher Kathleen Cole said.
Some think the statue has a strong presence that could be used to describe Mansfield High.
“It’s large, menacing, powerfully built creation of a tiger, impressive.” said AP English III teacher, Marilyn Byrum.
Some are more simplistic in their commentary but praise it nonetheless.
“It’s nice, I like it.” said world history teacher, Coach Speakes.
The students appreciate the statue as well.
“It looks nice.” said sophomore William Pritchett.
The statue, in conclusion, is loved by teachers and students alike and a proud new addition to our school.
