Choir Pays Tribute to Veterans
Mansfield ISD hosts an annual Veteran concert at the Performing Arts Center to honor those who have fallen and those who have served to protect our country and give us the rights we have.
“The veterans concert is important because every year more people go to service, more are sent home and more lives are taken,” said sophomore Erika Conover. “All veterans need to be remembered, young and old. My grandfather was in the army, and my dad is very proud of that; therefore, I too have the pride.”
Many people in our choir have friends and family who have served or are serving so this concert brings out a lot of emotion from them which helps show how thankful we are to those who has served, are serving, or have fallen.
“The concert makes me feel extremely grateful for everyone who has served and is currently serving for this country to fight for freedom. This concert is our way of saying thanks to the men and women who fight our freedom,” said sophomore Kyrstin Linex.
The Veteran concert is our way of paying tribute and saying thanks to those who have sacrificed their time and lives to protect our lives.
“It makes me feel good that we can pay tribute to those ladies and gentlemen that paid for our liberty. I’m also proud that our students take the time to involve themselves with a cause that’s bigger than all of us,” said choir director Reginal Wright.
This concert was a cluster concert featuring the choirs of MHS, Mary Orr and Asa Low intermediate schools. It also featured the MHS JROTC. Patriotic songs were performed and the names of the living and fallen veteran are read and acknowledged.
