How to Stay on Top While Sick

It happens to the best of us. You wake up with a massive headache, you feel achy, and you know you are minutes away from throwing up. You are sick, and school is NOT an option. But you don’t want to get too far behind, so what do you do?

  1. First, as soon as you know you will be out for the day, email all of your teachers whose classes you will be missing, letting them know that you’ll be out and asking if there’s anything you could be doing from home.
  2. If possible, turn in any assignments that are due that day either by email, or having a friend or sibling drop them off for you.
  3. Once your teachers email you back, do the work they give you and complete any other homework assignments that are due in the next few days.
  4. After school gets out, text friends who have the same classes as you asking what you missed. See if they can send you pictures of notes they took that day. Ask if your teachers mentioned anything important that’s coming up, or anything else out of the ordinary.
  5. Study for any upcoming tests or quizzes.
  6. Whenever you get back to school, try to come in early to talk to at least one teacher, to get caught up.
  7. Make yourself available during advisory, lunch, and after school in case you need tutoring.
  8. But most importantly rest up, drink lots of fluids and take any medication needed to become healthy again, so you can return to school and go back to living a happy life!
