Students Participate in Trivia Crack Craze
First there was Candy Crush, then games like Flappy Bird and Fun Run dominated the screens of iPads and smart phones during lunches or during a quiet moment in class. Now, students are indulging in the extremely popular game Trivia Crack.
“Trivia Crack tests my knowledge about all the useless stuff I know,” junior Cameron Hancock said.
Trivia Crack is exactly what its name suggests; an addictive game that tests players’ knowledge with various trivia questions. Players spin a virtual wheel that is marked into different sections for each category of questions of questions that range from geography to sports and nearly everything in between.
“I like the random questions,” freshman Eva Garcia said. “They expand your mind more.”
Other features of the game include options to challenge friends for various achievement icons and updates on which categories each player excels at.
“I like competing with my friends,” senior Lauren McBride said. “A little friendly rivalry is always fun. There are a lot of insults tossed around.”
Unless extra time is purchased, players could potentially have to wait as long as an hour to wait for an extra life to start a new game. This wait time only increases anticipation to test addictive trivia knowledge.
“I spend two hours a day playing it, as opposed to doing homework,” Garcia said. “I saw a friend playing it, so I downloaded it and got addicted.”
Unfortunately for students who want to only play Trivia Crack during class, the game has recently been blocked on school wifi.
“I’ve been inconvenienced now that it’s blocked on school wifi,” McBride said. “I have to be off the wifi to play now, so it’s slower.”
Whether students choose to play during school and use their own data or just wait until they get home, there’s no denying that Trivia Crack can be educational, depending on the type of questions given.
“The most bizarre question that I ever had was about which country has the most incarcerated prisoners,” Hancock said. “I picked North Korea, and the answer was the USA. Trivia Crack can be entertaining and educational.”
