Q: What high school did you attend?
A: I graduated from Mansfield Summit High School in 2015.
Q: What was your favorite class or teacher when you were a student?
A: My favorite class was ASL, and my favorite teacher was Mrs. McKnight
Q: Describe one of your fondest moments from high school.
A: My fondest memory from high school was when my dance team, Summit Sapphires, won Winner Circle at one of our competitions. We had worked so hard in practice and won!
Q: What was your worst memory from high school?
A: I don’t have a worst memory… >.<
Q: What organizations or activities were you a part of? Favorite?
A: I was involved in the Summit Sapphires dance team for 4 years. I was the Social Officer (back then we called them Spirit Leaders) Treasurer my Sophomore year then I was the Social Officer President my Junior year.
Q: Did you have any challenges during high school that shaped you or influenced you in your classroom?
A: Fun Fact: I actually have Cystic Fibrosis, which is a terminal lung disease that you have to be born with. It requires you to have 2 parents to each carry one of the genes in order to be a part of the 25% chance to actually have the disease. Throughout high school, I did not talk about my disease and most people had no idea that I was even sick. However, this meant that not everyone knew that I was struggling outside of school with my health and to maintain my health. In my high school career, I ended up with a bacteria in my lungs that required a lot of treatments and medications in order to get rid of it. I was waking up early to get my treatments done before drill team practice and I was staying up late to finish my treatments for the day. I would say this definitely shaped me to be the person that I am today. Also, opened my eyes to what my students might be going through outside of school. Needless to say, this has allowed me to create a welcoming and understanding classroom environment. Also, I show my students every day whatever you have going on in your personal life does not define you and should not limit you in any way. Go ahead and set those goals because everyone has a future.
