Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the new hit show Empire. The show has taken over social media, television talk shows, and has become a part of everyday life. The Fox show has been filled to the brim with surprises and twists that even the best detective wouldn’t suspect.

Before you get to the show’s twists and turns, you have to understand what has happened throughout the season. The show has many great stars and successful artists to make the show come alive. The main characters are Taraji P. Henson, she plays the role of Cookie Lyon, Terrence Howard as Lucious Lyon, Jussie Smollet as Jamal Lyon, Trai Byers as Andre Lyon, and Bryshere Gray as Hakeem Lyon. The show begins with Cookie Lyon being released from her 17 year jail sentence and returning to her family. She did not receive the warmest welcome from Lucious Lyon, her ex-husband and the head of Empire Entertainment, when she asks for half of the company. Lucious refuses the demand and decides that he wants to leave his company to one of his three sons, Jamal(a singer/songwriter), Hakeem (a rapper), and Andre Lyon (the CPO of Empire Entertainment), after finding out that he is diagnosed with ALS and is supposed to die in three years.

As the show continues throughout the season, many things are revealed to the audience that were not expected. The audience learns that the second eldest son, Jamal, is gay and the eldest son, Andre, is bipolar and has to be medicated. Lucious does not only despise Jamal for being gay, but also kills one of Cookie’s family members. After trying to do the right thing by testifying in court about her past, Cookie also has somebody “take care of” a person who is from her past after finding a rose which is that person’s signature mark, but later finds out that the rose is from Lucious. Just like Lucious, Cookie has not had any consequences for her actions.

In the later episodes of the season, more shocking surprises take place. While leaving the Empire headquarters one day, Jamal finds out that a woman of his past had a baby and he might be the father. Also, after Lucious and Cookie reconnect near the end of the season Lucious’ soon to be wife, Anika, decides to end the engagement and runs over to help Empire’s rival company. Andre’s bipolar disorder worsens after Lucious says he will never run the company. This causes Andre to lose control, throw away his medication, and ends with him having to be hospitalized.

Empire has a lot of surprises, not to mention the help of the dramatic music and the great acting the show is able to keep its audience captivated. Tune in at 7:00pm tonight to watch the season finale of the hit show!
