NHS Canned Food Drive

In an effort to give back to the community, as well as continue the ongoing rivalry between Summit High School and Mansfield High School, National Honor Society (NHS) is collecting canned foods.

“MHS participates in the canned food drive in order to give back to the community,” NHS President Sam Keltner said. “Although it might not look like it, there are many people in the area who require food from local food banks.”

Canned foods will be collected until the Blackout game on Friday, September 11.

“The biggest change from last year is the addition of the raffle system.  By bringing in 10 cans to any participating teacher a student will receive a raffle ticket,” Keltner said. “This raffle ticket will make them eligible to win gift certificates, tiger swag, and much more.”

Students can turn their cans in to any teacher to redeem a raffle ticket.

“The canned food competition between Mansfield and Summit is a great way to meet that need and show that the students care about the community,” Keltner said.

The winning school of the canned food drive competition will be announced at the Blackout game.
