With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, many couples are wondering what there is to do around Mansfield. The truth is, there isn’t much more to do than eat, go to Cinemark, and take walks around the park. So, this year, check out some of these ideas around DFW (listed cheapest to most expensive):
Dallas Museum of Art (free)
With different exhibitions every couple of months, the Dallas Museum of Art has tons to explore. Located in downtown Dallas, the museum currently has art from the Middle Ages and 19th-century French political satire on display.
Hockey/basketball games (free)
During this season, hockey and basketball are in high demand. UTA hosts multiple games at their sports stadiums, some of which are free, while others may cost a few dollars. Get a feel for the college experience, and watch the local sports teams.
Geocaching (free?)
Geocaching has been gaining a lot of attention around the area. Using a GPS, participants hide and find containers, also known as “caches”. There are locations all around the world, and whether or not you buy something to leave behind is your choice. So get out and get caching!
White Rhino (moderate pricing $5-$10)
Also located in Cedar Hill, White Rhino has amazing coffee and pastries. If you want a change of scene from the usual Starbucks, White Rhino is a great place to check out. You can have deep discussions with your significant other, your friends, or your family.
Coyote Drive-In Movie ($6)
Next time you want to see a new movie, check out Coyote Drive-In. Located in Fort Worth, it’s quite different from the typical movie theater. For popular movies and weekends, plan on arriving 60 to 90 minutes before in order to avoid long lines and ensure a good spot.
Putt-Putt ($8)
While not very out-of-the-box, mini golfing is a classic. Located near the Parks mall, Putt-Putt is a great way to get competitive or just have a bit of fun. With courses ranging from easy to hard, you don’t have to worry about your skill level.
Fair Park/Texas Discovery Gardens ($8)
Located in downtown Dallas, Fair Park is great place to walk around. With an aquarium, a music hall, and several museums, there are plenty of things to do. Also, the Texas Discovery Gardens is a beautiful indoor butterfly park with great photo opportunities.
Cedar Ridge Reserve (free)/Dogwood Canyon ($10)
A quick getaway from the noisy suburbs, Cedar Ridge Reserve and Dogwood Canyon, which are located in Cedar Hill, are about 30 minutes away from Mansfield. Spanning more than 600 acres, there are 9 miles of hiking trails, ranging from beginner to difficult.
Frontiers Museum of Flight ($12 for two on Groupon)
If you and your significant other are into history, there are amazing exhibits to explore at this museum. There are planes shown from WWI, WWII, and the Cold War, and the only Moon rock on display in North Texas is available to check out.
