Throwback Thursday: Matt Walker
This week’s Throwback Thursday features track and football coach Matt Walker. He has taught and coached for 20 years and attended college at Angelo State and Lamar University.
Q: Where are you from?
A: A small town in West Texas called Eden. Our school only had 125 kids in high school and only 19 in my graduating class.
Q: If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?
A: The ability to slow time down. Life moves so fast, I’d like to enjoy it a little more. As I watch my two kids grow up or see kids I’ve coached move on, it’s really incredible how fast time goes.
Q: Who is your favorite sports team and why?
A: The Dallas Cowboys because they are my team… for better or worse. Been a fan since Tom Landry; I’ve seen them win three Super Bowls and I’ve seen them be absolutely terrible and everything in between.
Q: What’s something about you that many people don’t know about?
A: My wife and I never lived in the same state until we were married.
Q: What is your life motto?
A: “When joy is a habit, love is a reflex.” Bob Goff
Q: If you could go back in time, what time period or event would you go to?
A: This is a tough one because I’m a big fan of AC, cars and air travel. I’ve always thought it would have been amazing to be on the frontier in Texas or Oklahoma. I can’t imagine the hardships they went through on a daily basis to survive.
Q: What degrees did you earn?
A: I have a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a Bio/Chem double minor and a masters in Educational Leadership.
