Last Saturday, everyone who could vote in the MISD community was allowed to cast ballots for several school-related items. These items included a five-section bond package and the election for place one and two on the school board.
The bond package had two of the five proposals passed. The successful proposals will allow the district to spend more money on renovations and technology. The failed proposals included stadium renovations, fine arts additions and athletic complexes. The Uproar previously covered the bond package in more detail.
The board election for places one and two were also on the ballot for voting. According to Ballotpedia, incumbent candidate Michelle Newsom won place one with 60% of the vote against Matthew Herzberg. Jandel Crutchfield won place two with 62% of the vote against Angel Hidalgo.
